An MACC source said the suspect would secure queue numbers to help bribe-givers speed up their vehicle inspection process without following procedure, Bernama reported.
The man in his 30s was placed under a four-day remand today. He was arrested following an operation by the MACC, road transport department, and Puspakom.
Yesterday, an MACC source said a man in his 60s had been arrested and placed in remand over the bribery scandal.
Several people were believed to be part of a syndicate involved in facilitating vehicle inspections without following procedure.
Information from JPJ’s enforcement division showed that several people had abused Puspakom’s booking system, making bulk reservations for inspections using random vehicle plate numbers.
“The modus operandi of these individuals involves offering pre-booked inspection dates to clients for hundreds of ringgit per slot, followed by rescheduling the dates to allow new (inspection) applications in the system,” the source added.
