PETALING JAYA
Carsome Group Inc has inked a two-year partnership with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to become the association’s official automotive partner.

The car e-commerce platform said the partnership is part of its efforts to help FAM strengthen both the men’s and women’s national teams.

“This partnership is a key milestone in advancing Malaysian football and supporting FAM’s efforts to elevate the sport’s regional presence by ensuring the national teams have the resources they need to compete at their best,” it said in a statement.

Carsome also said this collaboration is part of its efforts to nurture local talent and contribute to the broader development of Malaysian sports.

The partnership will involve Carsome providing FAM with 15 vehicles over the next two years to ensure the men, women and management teams travel in comfort while seamlessly managing their logistical requirements throughout the game seasons.

“The sponsored fleet includes Proton X90 and X70, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Serena, BMW 3 Series, Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and the Toyota Alphard,” Carsome added.

Carsome CEO Eric Cheng was quoted as saying that the company firmly believes in supporting Malaysians – whether in business, education or sports.

“This partnership goes beyond providing transport; it is our effort to drive champions forward by ensuring Malaysia’s national teams have the support and infrastructure to excel.

“We hope this inspires more Malaysians to stand behind our national teams and celebrate their journey,” Cheng said.

Meanwhile, FAM president Joehari Ayub said the collaboration reflects the parties’ commitment to driving Malaysian football to greater heights.

“Through this partnership, we aim to enhance the football experience for players, fans, and stakeholders by fostering initiatives that promote development, accessibility, and support for the local football ecosystem,” he said.

Under the partnership, Carsome Group’s education arm, Carsome Academy, will also offer exclusive discounts and referral incentives to the national team and FAM members for its automotive technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes, soft skills courses, and more.

“This initiative is aimed at equipping players and FAM personnel with valuable industry knowledge and practical skills, empowering them with opportunities for professional growth beyond their sporting careers,” Carsome said.

The signing ceremony took place at the Thistle Hotel in Johor Bahru ahead of Malaysia’s AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Nepal at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tonight. - FMT
