Szami Nazari pleaded guilty to two charges in separate courts before magistrates Noorelynna Hanim Abd Halim and Khairunnisak Hasni.
For the first charge, Szami, 40, was accused of refusing to cooperate and fleeing when police attempted to conduct an inspection at 5.04am last Sunday.
The incident occurred when a police corporal, Khairuddin Baharudin, tried to stop him at the roadside along Jalan Gerik, Taman Rainbow, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.
The charge was brought under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to two years in prison, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both, upon conviction.
Noorelynna sentenced the labourer to eight months in prison, effective from his date of arrest on March 23.
In a separate court, Szami was charged with reckless driving from Jalan Kuching towards Kepong between 3.30am and 4am on the same day.
The second charge was framed under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum five-year prison sentence, a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000, and disqualification from holding a driving licence for five years.
Khairunnisak sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment, a RM6,000 fine, and a five-year disqualification from holding a driving licence. She also ordered him to serve an additional six months in jail if the fine is unpaid.
Both the prison sentences will run concurrently from the date of arrest.
