Kajang police chief Naazron Yusof said police received a report tonight from a 17-year-old student who said he was assaulted by an unknown man in Saujana Impian, Kajang, in the afternoon.
In a statement, Naazron said a preliminary investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the student and the suspect.
The student sought treatment at Kajang Hospital and was confirmed to have suffered a fractured nasal bone, he said.
He was also issued a summons after it was found that he did not have a driving licence.
The case is being investigated for causing grievous hurt under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of not more than seven years and a fine upon conviction.
It is also being probed for reckless driving under Section 279 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to six months in jail, a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.
“The public is advised to always exercise caution while driving and not to violate the law,” said Naazron.
Those with information are urged to contact investigating officer Chalart Cinda at 017-9825510 or the nearest police station. - FMT
