MCMC to fine Harith Iskander, Cecelia Yap RM10,000 each

PETALING JAYA: 

The Attorney-General’s Chambers has given its consent to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to issue compounds of RM10,000 each to comedian Harith Iskander and Facebook user Cecelia Yap.

In a statement tonight, MCMC said the compounds will be issued under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Harith had posted on Facebook that his faith was shaken after seeing a menu advertising “Ham Sap Coffee” because it contained the word “ham”.

Yap, in response to his post, allegedly made comments regarded as insulting to Islam and Prophet Muhammad.
