PETALING JAYA: Sunway University’s owner has confirmed a viral incident in which a student had engaged in “inappropriate conduct” on campus.
Sunway Education Group said it took allegations of misconduct very seriously, adding that the incident had caused concern among members of its community.
In a statement, it also criticised those who were involved in cyberbullying or harassing the student implicated.
“Immediate warranted action has been taken and the student is now under the care of the family,” the company said. Further investigations are being held.
The company also urged the public against circulating any content linked to the incident, warning that it may be breaching the law to do so.
Earlier today, Subang Jaya police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said an investigation had been launched after a report was lodged over two videos shared on social media.
One recording showed a man believed to be a student pleasuring himself in the university library while watching a video on a computer. Another video showed him on the campus grounds, surrounded by a group of students recording him with their phones. - FMT
