KUALA LUMPUR: Titiwangsa member of parliament Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani today visited Bazaar Ramadan Tradisi at Pasar Datuk Keramat.

Johari spent about half an hour walking through the bazaar, engaging with traders and distributing aprons given by the Datuk Keramat branch of the Federal Territories Malay Hawkers and Petty Traders Association.

He also bought food from the stalls.

Speaking with the New Straits Times today, Johari said this Ramadan bazaar was different from others in the city as it was managed by the traders association rather than Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

"The association took the initiative to organise the bazaar within the market premises rather than setting it up outdoors."

Johari said the initiative helped traders, particularly Malay entrepreneurs, boost their income during Ramadan.

Asked about rental costs, Johari said traders paid RM300 for the 30-day Ramadan period, along with a RM10 registration fee to the association.

The bazaar is expected to benefit some 100 registered traders. - NST
