Cops identify man involved in flying Jalur Gemilang upside down

 Police say a report on the matter was lodged by a man yesterday.

PETALING JAYA:

 Police have identified a 30-year-old man believed to be involved in flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down at a school in Port Dickson on Friday.

District police chief Maslan Udin said the man would be called  to assist with the investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing and will be referred to the public prosecutor for further action,” Bernama quoted him as saying in a statement today.

Maslan said a report on the matter was lodged by a 32-year-old man yesterday.

It was reported yesterday that SJKC Chung Hua had apologised for the mistake. It said the flag was immediately taken down.

Maslan advised the public to allow the police to resolve the issue, warning that their involvement could disrupt harmony and public order.

Police are pursuing the case under Section 504 of the Penal Code with intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, Section 5 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network services. - FMT
