PETALING JAYA:
An unidentified man was killed after he was run over by a train in Chemor, Ipoh, Perak, yesterday.

Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said initial investigations revealed that the train operator heard a loud bang around 6am when it was passing a temple on its way north from Ipoh.

However, the train operator could not identify what the train had struck as it was dark and foggy, he said.

Abang Zainal said police, with the help of the forensic and K9 units, later discovered body parts believed to be that of the victim, which were subsequently sent for a post-mortem.

“As for now we do not suspect foul play.

“The case has been classified as sudden death until we establish the victim’s identity,” he said in a statement.

Abang Zainal went on to urge those with missing family members to contact the investigating officer Safrizal Saad at 017-344 6790, the Chemor police or the Ipoh police headquarters. - FMT
