“With a breakdown of RM1.67 in daily expenses per spouse daily, her statement is not only inaccurate but she has insulted senior citizen couples who live alone … One wonders if she is qualified to hold the portfolio which requires her to lighten the burden stemming from escalating living cost.
“Her statement exposes the fact that the Madani government or she herself doesn’t comprehend the reality of cost hike at all.”
Siti Kasim further took a swipe at the PKR secretary-general that “one needn’t be a maths genius to fathom out that such statement is also an insult to one’s intelligence”.
“One egg alone may cost 50 sen these days, hence a simple two-egg brekkie would already have taken up 60% of the individual’s RM1.67 daily expenses.

“1kg of rice is at least RM3.50 while a packet of yellow noodle may cost RM2 which already exceeded that daily budget … and we haven’t even mention chicken which price certainly exceeds RM10/bird, cooking oil, flour or vegetables.
“What about non-food cost such as electricity, water, healthcare and transportation?”
The Orang Asli advocate was also puzzled with Fuziah having attributed her claim to data furnished by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
If such is the case, we’re concerned that the government’s official data is grossly cacat (slang to depict “inaccurate”) for it’s too far detached from the rakyat’s quality of life.
This means that all government polices drawn up based on such data can be deemed useless. It’s either this or the minister has misinterpreted or worse, abused the data to defend the insufficient cash hand-out
“The bottom line is the minister has failed in her role to narrow the gap between data and reality of life … Did she go down to ground zero to see with her own eyes the actual struggle of the rakyat?
“This smacks lack of accountability for her (Fuziah) erroneous claim has eroded faith on the understanding of the Madani government in managing the cost-of-living crisis.
“Not only has she has failed miserably to be the people’s attorney in the government, her lack of understanding on the financial woes of the rakyat has certainly scarred the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s credibility.
“Lastly, I wish the Madani government can spare some moments to imagine how many thousands of elderly couples or poverty-stricken Malaysians can benefit from the RM100 mil fund channelled towards the Palestinian cause … This is a gross misplaced priority!” – Aug 28, 2025
