They resigned in protest against Padang Besar Bersatu chief Izizam Ibrahim's appointment as the head of the state chapter.

Those who resigned include Arau Bersatu deputy chairman Azrul Azhar Abd Ghani, vice-chief C Sombun as well as every member of the division’s Wanita and Youth leaderships.
Their representative, Roshita Buyong, an Arau Bersatu committee member, said they were resigning in protest against Padang Besar Bersatu chief Izizam Ibrahim’s appointment as the head of the state chapter.
She claimed that the Perlis Bersatu leadership and grassroots were not consulted on Izizam’s appointment, Bernama reported.
Yesterday, multiple Kangar Bersatu leaders announced their exit from the party to join opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin’s Wawasan.
Prior to that, Padang Besar Bersatu was hit by a similar exodus of divisional leaders.
In July, Perlis menteri besar Abu Bakar Hamzah resigned from the Bersatu Supreme Council.
Abu Bakar is said to be aligned with Hamzah, the former Bersatu deputy president who was sacked in February at the height of a leadership tussle with party president Muhyiddin Yassin. - FMT
