The suspect was detained by a team from the Maran district police criminal investigation division following a report lodged on Monday by a 22-year-old victim.
District police chief Superintendent Wong Kim Wai said the complainant claimed that an unknown person recorded a video of him while he was in the toilet.
"Following the report, police conducted an investigation and operation before arresting the man, who is a civil servant.
"The suspect was arrested in front of a nasi kandar restaurant near the supermarket for further investigation," Wong said in a statement today.
Initial questioning revealed the suspect confessed to recording video and taking photos of the victim inside the toilet.
Police also seized the suspect's mobile phone, believed to have been used in the incident, to assist investigations.
"The suspect has been remanded for three days for further investigation under Section 509 and Section 292 of the Penal Code," Wong said. - NST
