Organiser Pertubuhan Jaringan Ihsan Madani says the event is one of the NGO's many initiatives to promote a healthier lifestyle both physically and mentally.
The NGO’s chairman, Aidi Amin, said the Muhibbah Ride was one of Perjim’s many initiatives to promote a healthier lifestyle both physically and mentally.
“Racial harmony and a healthy life are deeply connected, as inner peace and community well-being depend on living free from hatred and division,” he said in a statement.
The Muhibbah Ride involved various cycling groups and more than 250 cyclists taking part in a 73km journey around Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh.
Aidi said unity in a multiracial society is often marred by “menacing individuals”, and every Malaysian bears the duty to preserve harmony by engaging more with their community.
He also said it is important for Malaysians to remind themselves of the spirit of muhibbah – friendship, camaraderie, and mutual understanding among people from different racial, cultural and religious backgrounds.
“You can never backpedal on a bike, and we must always move forward in our journey together as a nation. Always look ahead against all odds,” he said. - FMT
