Don’t teach us how to oppose BN, PAS veep tells 'amateurs'

A PAS leader has lashed out at their detractors saying they need not be taught how to oppose BN as they have decades of experience doing so.
“There are some who want to teach PAS (to oppose BN). But if you oppose BN you have to learn from PAS.
"These people are just learning how to be opposition, and they want to teach us.
“We have been doing this for over 60 years,” he said during the Fastaqim Rally 2.4 in Shah Alam today.
While Idris did not name his detractors, he was likely referring to opposition newcomer Bersatu and its chairperson, Pakatan Harapan’s prime ministerial candidate Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Last week, Mahathir asked PAS to clarify who they would prefer to be prime minister, himself or BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak.
Idris dismissed the detractors claiming they did not leave Umno out of any kind of principle.

“He ran from Umno because he didn’t get dedak (gratification), not because of principles," he said.
The Bukit Gantang MP reminded his detractors that PAS has faced BN is every election, except for the 1974 general election, when the party ran as part of the ruling coalition.
“In 13 elections, only once have we not gone against BN, which was when we were in an alliance government. For the rest, we went up against them.
“When he led, we opposed. We are the opposition, how can we not oppose?” he said, in an apparent reference to Mahathir.
‘Islamic party must win’
Idris also urged the people to ensure that an Islamic party wins the election, in order to protect all the races in the country.
“We believe that with Islam, it will give protection. If Islam is protected, Malays will be protected. If Islam is protected, the Chinese will be. If Islam is protected, the Indians, Kadazan, Murut will be.
“If only Malays are protected, there is no guarantee that Islam and Malays will be. When Islam is protected, everyone will be protected.”
