Haniza Talha of PKR also calls for affirmative action to help women.
SHAH ALAM: Women leaders of Pakatan Harapan (PH) said women should form 30% of the government should the coalition come to power.
Haniza Talha, speaking on behalf of the coalition’s women’s wing, said women were more in touch with day-to-day problems faced by the people.
“Don’t set us aside. We have been patient all this while but we hope PH leaders are different from the leaders of other coalitions,” she told the PH convention here today.
Haniza, a PKR assemblyperson in Selangor, also called for an affirmative action policy to help women, including a 30% quota for women in political positions.
“Give women and the youth the chance to show their abilities.
She said PH leaders should not follow Barisan Nasional (BN) who “keeps young members at bay until their youth has passed”. -FMT
