No ‘big brother’ for us, says Pakatan

Pakatan Harapan says the alliance presents the ‘most serious’ opposition force in Malaysian history.

SHAH ALAM: Pakatan Harapan (PH) considers all its four partners as equal and that no one party is the “big brother”, says the coalition’s chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah.
He said this was not the case with Barisan Nasional (BN), which he said was controlled by Umno.
“In PH, there is no dominant party. In PH, there is no big brother,” Saifuddin said at the PH convention here today.
He said PH, which brings together PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM and which plans to contest the next general election under a common banner, was “the most serious ever” opposition alliance in Malaysia’s history.
Saifuddin also said an important announcement would be made during the convention today.
“Wait for my important announcement in a while,” he said.
There is speculation that the four parties had agreed on their choice of prime minister, should they win the next general election.
There have also been disagreements on appointing PH chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the interim prime minister.
PKR has since its inception named its de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim as its prime ministerial candidate.
Anwar is serving a five-year jail sentence, and could be released by June.
The 14th general election must be called by middle of this year. -FMT
