Gombak district police chief ACP Ali Ahmad has been given a 24-hour transfer order due to his failure to curb illegal gambling activities in the district.
This was revealed by the IGP Mohamad Fuzi Harun in a media statement issued by Bukit Aman on July 28, which announced the shifting of posts between Ali and Air Hitam Police Training Centre (Pulapol) commandant ACP Samsor Maarof.
"I have warned the district police chiefs on the gambling issue. A number of instructions have been issued to them in regard to curbing gambling.
"They have to be responsible. If they didn't comply, we will have to take stern action," Fuzi said in a media conference at Royal Malaysia Police college at Cheras today.
Fuzi warned that a few more district police chiefs would be transferred because "they did not curb the gambling issue as expected".
He said he would meet the 157 district police chiefs from all over the country next week at the police college to discuss several issues, including illegal gambling activities.
On July 27, Fuzi joined federal CID director Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd, Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor and Federal D7 principal assistant director Rohaimi Md Isa in an operation against illegal gambling in Rawang, which is under Gombak district.
Fuzi also said police have never ceased their investigations into the missing persons cases of Pastor Raymond Koh, Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth, as well as Che Amri Che Mat.
"The investigations are still going on, under Section 365. There's no need to open a new investigation paper.
"So far there have been no new leads but we are trying our best," Fuzi added.
On Monday, de facto Law Minister Liew Vui Keong said the government had instructed the police to get to the bottom of the disappearances of the four. -Mkini
