SHAH ALAM: Police here have suggested that eateries only operate till 7pm throughout the movement control order (MCO).
Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said on Tuesday (March 24) that limiting the operating hours of these businesses could lead to fewer people coming out at night in search for food.
"From our observation through our roadblocks, the public is complying with the MCO and only coming out one at a time (in their car).
"That being said, we have three permanent roadblocks set up in the district and they are constantly choked with cars, and the common reason is to buy food," he told reporters after joining operations and patrols with his personnel.
Currently coffee shops, restaurants, as well as food and beverage outlets in hotels, are allowed to receive supplies, provide takeaways, deliveries and drive-in services from 6am to midnight.
ACP Baharudin said people should remain indoors as much as possible as this was the best way to curb the spread of Covid-19.
"I understand that it is not easy to be stuck at home, and you cant even have proper healthy activities but it is only for two weeks.
"Just try to cope with it for the time being as it is in our best interest," he said. - Star
