MIRI: A huge crocodile weighing about 500kg and measuring about 5m in length was caught in Limbang town in northern Sarawak.
The creature had wandered into a big monsoon drain near SK St Edmund located in the town late Tuesday night (Nov 10).
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department in its latest updates on Wednesday (Nov 11) said members of the public alerted them after spotting the crocodile near the school.
"Our team found that someone had shot it but it survived."Our personnel managed to restrain it and tied it up safely.
The crocodile was so big and heavy that a truck was needed to transport it.
The Limbang Fire and Rescue Station handed the animal to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation on Wednesday morning.
"The Sarawak Forestry Corporation this morning sent its team and took it away to a safe location," the department said.
It is not known where the huge croc came from. The town is located along the banks of the Limbang River. - Star
