PETALING JAYA: Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany) leaders Robin Yap Wen Qing and Tan Li Yuan have been called up for police questioning again to assist in investigations over the student group’s social media posting regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
They will be giving their statement at the Kajang police district headquarters at 1pm tomorrow, accompanied by two lawyers, Umany said in a message to the media tonight.
Yap and Yuan are currently being probed by police for sedition and offences under the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998.
Police investigations on the student body started after a Facebook post called “Yang di-Pertuan Agong should not intervene in national affairs” was posted on the Umany page.
Previously, police had also questioned six Umany committee members, a former Umany leader and also the Universiti Malaya Students Union chief.
Former leader Wong Yan Ke, 24, was also recently charged for allegedly disobeying a public servant.
He was arrested for “alleged obstruction of the duties of a public servant” after he recorded the police raid on Yap’s house and broadcast it live on Facebook.
Wong was released on police bail after being detained for 15 hours. - FMT
