Seridana cluster involves auxiliary police at PMO

The Seridana cluster is related to positive cases among several auxiliary police who work at the Prime Minister's Office.

Health Ministry's director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said one of them was supposed to carry out a special task at the Parliament.

He was screened three days before the parliamentary sitting was held. Other than him, a sign language interpreter and an officer to a senator were also tested positive.

"His wife and three friends were tested positive.

"A screening was conducted at the PMO. There's a new cluster namely Seridana involving five auxiliary police," Noor Hisham said.

For the record, the name Seridana is likely to have derived from the Seri Perdana Complex, which is the official residence of the prime minister.

It is located at Presint 10 in Putrajaya, while the Prime Minister's Office is at Presint 1.

Yesterday, Senator Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi had confirmed that her sister, who is her special officer, was tested positive for Covid-19.

Noor Hisham said the Health Ministry had identified 12 close contacts of the case. While they were tested negative, they were under the incubation period of 14 days.

On the infected sign language interpreter, Noor Hisham said the health ministry had identified seven contacts. They were under quarantine.

He reminded all those who attend the parliamentary sitting to adhere to the standard operating procedure.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the ministry will table to the Parliament on periodic screening for the attendees.

"We will table the Parliament periodic screening because the (earlier) testing was conducted three days before the sitting.

"The Parliament sitting would be held for six weeks, so they are still exposed. I think this is one of the preemptive and proactive measures," he said. - Mkini
