Two Selangor Amanah state reps deny leaving party for PKR

Two more Selangor Amanah assemblypersons were hit with speculations of their departures from the party, following the recent declaration that Meru assemblyperson Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar is no longer a member of Amanah.

The duo - Morib assemblyperson Hasnul Baharuddin and Hulu Kelang assemblyperson Saari Sungib - were said to have intentions to leave Amanah and join PKR, its partner in Harapan.

When contacted, both Hasnul and Saari denied the speculations, insisting that they remained Amanah members. The duo also stressed that they have no plan to join PKR.

"That is not true. Earlier someone sent me what was supposedly my membership number (in PKR) but I have never filled up any form or provide my personal details to join the party, (so) that is not true.

"I denied the membership and I remain loyal to my party," Hasnul said.

Similarly, Saari also denied the allegation, stating that there was no reason for him to jump between coalition partners.

"I deny it. Why should I jump among friendly parties," he said, in reference to PKR and DAP as Harapan allies.

Fakhrulrazi previously described his departure from Amanah as a decision made by the party without due notice, as he had never personally declared any intention to leave.

His response came after Selangor Amanah confirmed that he is no longer a party member, to queries based on several viral social media postings.

Fakhrulrazi also refused further comments when asked whether he had formally joined PKR, adding he would provide an explanation "in due time".

"I don't know. No comment. Now I want to focus on work as a state assemblyperson because I was elected by the people. I must complete the mandate.

"I will explain when the time comes," Fakhrulrazi said. - Mkini
