Police are conducting an investigation into alleged violations of SOPs under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan at a product launch involving some businesspersons and a politician yesterday.
Petaling Jaya District Police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said this follows a police report lodged yesterday, after several pictures of guests apparently not observing physical distancing nor wearing face masks at the event held at a hotel in Petaling Jaya, had gone viral.
"The police have identified the organisers of the event, as well as the guests present at the event, and all of them, will be called to assist with the investigation under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342)," he said in a statement today.
Fakhrudin (above) also reminded event organisers and companies to ensure compliance with the set SOPs for containing the spread of Covid-19.
