Covid-19: No legal action against Sinovac vaccine recipients who refuse boosters, says KJ

KUALA LUMPUR: Legal action will not be taken against recipients of Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines who do not want to take a booster shot, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

"There will be no legal action... (taking the vaccine) is also not compulsory under the law," said the Health Minister during a press conference after a working visit to the Malaysian Red Crescent and St John Ambulance of Malaysia on Friday (March 25).

However, Khairy said that those who are not boosted after April 1 will lose their fully vaccinated status.

He said the efficacy of the Sinovac vaccine drops much more significantly compared to the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines.

As such, he said the Ministry is working to convince them on the benefits of receiving a booster dose.

Khairy also said the fully vaccinated status on MySejahtera of those who purchased fake vaccine certificates would be struck out.

"Once police investigations confirm this, we will strike it out. We have been striking them out progressively," he said.

Khairy said the case would be taken to the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) once police investigations conclude on the doctors who issued the fake vaccination certificates.

"If proven to be so, these doctors will get their licence revoked," he said. - Star
