KUALA LUMPUR: A hailstorm struck certain parts of the city here on Friday evening (March 25).
Many videos and photos of the phenomenon were shared on social media, with many saying this was the first time they had seen or experienced this.
Pictures and video footage shared online showed what appears to be small chunks of ice falling to the ground, with some holding bits of ice in their hands.
"It's raining hailstones in #Cheras #KualaLumpur," @Manivannan2 tweeted.
Sharing a video, @TheAmirulHakimi said this was his first time seeing a hailstorm.
@brgsjks, who was in Ampang, said she was also experiencing this for the first time.
"Holding for the first time. It's cold," she added.
On Facebook, user Fyah Zainor said hail fell in Datok Keramat while another page called D'Ujang cendol shared a video of hail falling at the Jelatek night market.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported a hailstorm at Jalan U-Thant in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the Meteorological Department's (MetMalaysia) latest update, thunderstorms are expected in several parts of the country until 8pm, including Kuala Lumpur.
