PETALING JAYA: The education ministry will examine the selection criteria for motivational speakers at schools after allegations of sexual misconduct involving an independent speaker.
Education minister Radzi Jidin said the move is to prevent any harmful or undesirable acts against students, especially of sexual harassment.
“Comprehensive evaluations must be done before inviting independent speakers to schools,” Kosmo quoted him as saying.
Radzi added that there must be coordination between the ministry and schools to prevent further cases of misconduct by speakers.
On Saturday, police arrested a motivational speaker after four reports were lodged against him for sexual harassment.
Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said the reports were lodged in Klang, Shah Alam and Kajang by four people aged between 17 and 18.
A 40-year-old suspect has been remanded until Sept 14 for investigation. - FMT
