KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old girl with Down Syndrome, known as Bella, has ended two days of closed-door testimony in the trial of Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali, who is accused of having neglected and mistreated the girl last year.

Deputy public prosecutor Zilfinaz Abbas told reporters that Bella testified in-camera for two days before judge Izralizam Sanusi.

Bella, clad in a pink baju kurung, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur court complex at about 9am, accompanied by welfare officers and policemen.

The trial was conducted in-camera as the girl was the victim in the case. Her testimony could not be reported by law as she is a child witness.

The hearing was postponed because a police witness, Inspector Suhaili Mahad of Kuala Lumpur CID was on medical leave.

The hearing will continue on Oct 18-19.

Siti Bainun, 30, faces two charges of neglecting and abusing the teenage girl causing her to suffer physical and emotional injuries between February and June 2021 at a condominium in Wangsa Maju here. - FMT
