BN will not work with PBM, says Umno’s Isham

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional (BN) has closed the door on working with Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), saying it will complicate the coalition’s relationship with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil said the coalition would just go solo without PBM.

He said it was difficult for BN to welcome PBM into its fold as one of its MPs was from Julau.

“If we work with PBM’s Julau MP, we’d be facing off against GPS in that constituency. Where would that leave us with GPS? So, the conclusion is, we will just go solo,” he said, referring to Larry Sng.

He said this during a town hall with the residents of Subang Jaya last night.

PBM had in July applied to join BN but did not receive any response from the coalition.

BN deputy chairman Mohamad Hasan had said the component parties must come to a consensus on PBM’s application.

PBM is led by Zuraida Kamaruddin as its president-designate while Sng is president and Tebrau MP Steven Choong is a vice-president. All three used to be in PKR. - FMT
