PETALING JAYA: The police have advised the public against participating in a gathering organised by Muda which is expected to be held near the Sogo shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur this Saturday.

Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the organiser had not notified authorities about the gathering as required under the law.

Under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, the organiser has to notify the district police chief in writing at least five days before an assembly.

“To date, police have yet to receive a notice.

“The police have also advised the organiser against holding this gathering, or risk stern action being taken. The public is also advised against joining it,” he said in a brief statement.

Yesterday, Muda executive committee member Nurainie Haziqah Shafii said they planned to stage a protest against having the general election during the monsoon season this year.

It was in response to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remarks that Barisan Nasional was prepared to campaign even during the floods if the general election was held this year.

The monsoon usually takes place between October and February which results in massive floods in the northern and east coast states. - FMT
