Covid-19 (Sept 16): 1,977 new cases, 6 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 1,977 new daily Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,815,679.

Active cases currently stood at 27,158, down 10.1 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (492)
Kuala Lumpur (405)
Sabah (187)
Perak (175)
Sarawak (115)
Penang (100)
Negeri Sembilan (84)
Malacca (83)
Kelantan (76)
Johor (61)
Kedah (57)
Pahang (47)
Terengganu (40)
Putrajaya (36)
Perlis (17)
Labuan (2)


Another six deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as "brought in dead".

Over the past week, an average of 4.4 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.3, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,305 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 89 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 247 deaths last month and 204 deaths in July.

The states with the highest deaths were Kedah and Perak with two each, followed by Sabah and Selangor with one each.

There are 1,178 Covid-19 patients hospitalised, of which 60 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Sabah (77) followed by Selangor (77) and Johor (54). - Mkini
