Eight years on: Cops appeal for info on whereabouts of Indira Gandhi's ex-husband

IPOH: Have you seen this man? Over eight years after a court warrant issued against him, the police are looking for M. Indira Gandhi’s ex-husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said Muhammad Riduan had a warrant issued under his name on 30 May 2014.

“The Ipoh High Court issued the warrant of committal (Waran Pengkomitan) against him.

“We hope members of the public who have any information about him to contact us,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 21).

ACP Yahaya said those with information on Muhammad Riduan may contact the investigating officer Asst Supt Yap Siew Cheng at 012 - 909 3362.

In March last year, the Ipoh High Court ordered the Attorney General Chambers and the police to provide an update on the effort to capture Muhammad Riduan.

Judicial Commissioner Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet ordered the report to be given by June 2021.

On Aug 5, the High Court denied Indira’s leave to proceed with contempt proceedings against the Inspector-General of Police for his failure to locate and return Indira’s daughter, Prasana Diksa.

Muhammad Riduan or K. Patmanathan had run away with Prasana Diksa in 2009 when she was just 11 months old following a custodial battle with Indira, who was later granted custody over their three children in 2010. The couple divorced in August 2012.

Muhammad Riduan, a convert, had also converted his three children to Islam.

The High Court had on May 30, 2014, ordered the police to recover Prasana Diksa and to return her to Indira.

The mandamus also compelled the police to enforce a committal order to arrest and commit Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, to prison, which is still pending to date. - Star
