Electrifying atmosphere at National Stadium for FA Cup final

KUALA LUMPUR: Electrifying! That was the only way to describe the atmosphere amid scenes of excitement and anticipation in the Klang Valley as fans, young and old, stood outside the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today for the FA Cup final before the 9pm kick-off.

The match between Terengganu and eight-time Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) drew a sell-out crowd as 78,000 tickets were snapped up a day before the game.

The stadium gates were opened at 5.30pm, and thousands of fans rushed in for seats while some hung banners around.

It was clear that fans were hyped up for the final. Security was also tight as more than 3,000 enforcement officers were stationed in and out of the stadium as early as 10am.

Fans waved banners, blew horns and did the Mexican wave before the kick-off.

They also cheered when Terengganu and JDT players entered the pitch for their warm-up.

It was Terengganu's first final since their victory in 2011, while JDT won the title in 2016. - NST
