DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke is ready to take on Umno's Khairy Jamaluddin, should the latter contest in the Seremban parliamentary seat in the 15th general election.
Loke, in a statement today, was responding to questions by the media to him, regarding suggestions by Seremban Umno Youth for Khairy, who is also the health minister, to contest in the state in the upcoming polls.
This after Khairy said that he would not contest the Rembau seat, of which he has been a three-term MP, to pave way for BN deputy chairperson Mohamad Hasan to contest there.
Elaborating, Loke said that it is everyone's democratic right to contest in any seat they like.
"KJ is a politician with calibre, who would pose a formidable challenge wherever he contests. If he contests in Seremban, it would be an intense clash, which would make Seremban one of the 'hottest' seats in GE15.
"However, as a DAP leader, I'm unperturbed to face any challenges, and am prepared to defend my parliamentary seat from KJ, or whoever the opponent floors.
"Let the rakyat and the voters in Seremban gauge and decide if I am still worthy of representing them in the Parliament," Loke added.
The last time BN held Seremban, an urban mixed seat, was in 2004. - Mkini
