The police have been urged to state if it has contacted journalists Tom Wright and Bradley Hope on their reports on Jho Low's sightings.
In a statement today, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said this was necessary as the duo had reported that Jho Low was in China or Hong Kong between 2018 and 2019.
"If not, why is the police reluctant to contact them?" he asked.
Lim also urged the police to state if they would suggest a reward for information that would lead to the arrest of Low or his fugitive associates.
Wright and Hope, along with Clare Rewcastle-Brown, were among the most prominent international journalists covering the 1MDB affair.
Since the jailing of Najib Abdul Razak, Wright and Hope launched a new crowdsourcing campaign to locate Low.
Over the past two weeks, Wright and Hope had released a photograph which allegedly depicted Low in Shanghai Disneyland and a copy of an application form for a yacht club membership, purportedly signed by his wife.
In 2018, Low was charged in absentia in Malaysia for eight counts of money laundering involving US$261 million (RM1.17 billion at current rates).
Sometime in the middle of this year, Jho Low's lawyers attempted to negotiate a settlement with the Malaysian government.
However, the Attorney-General's Chambers rejected the settlement offers, which reportedly included a sum of RM1.5 billion. - Mkini
