Najib Abdul Razak has been given medical clearance to be sent back to Kajang prison, according to the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (CRH).
CRH said the convicted former premier has undergone several examinations and treatments during his stay at the hospital.
“The results of his latest check-up by CRH’s rehabilitation specialist found that his health is now in good condition.
“He has also been taught by CRH’s physiotherapy trainer and can carry out the exercise techniques independently.
“Medical consultants from CRH and the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) have given him medical clearance and cleared him to be sent back to Kajang prison,” the hospital said in a statement today.
The hospital added that they have also held ‘family conferences’ with Najib and his immediate family members to inform them of the former prime minister’s health condition as well as the monitoring plan for his health.
Najib has been in and out of hospitals after being sent to jail late last month.
Two weeks ago, he was sent to HKL over stomach ulcers – which his family claims were stress-induced.
He was later discharged but was re-admitted to HKL last week after he fell ill again due to blood pressure issues, before being transferred to CRH.
No special treatment
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had previously clarified that Najib was transferred to CRH from HKL because he required physiotherapy.
Khairy stressed that Najib, who is serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption, has not been accorded special treatment.
He added that he could not reveal details on Najib’s medical condition due to the ministry’s patient privacy protocol.
