PETALING JAYA: A report is to be lodged against special functions minister Abd Latiff Ahmad tomorrow over alleged links to the troubled RM9 billion littoral combat ship project.
Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasir of PKR said he would file a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission at its headquarters in Putrajaya.
The report would also urge the MACC to reveal Latiff’s asset declarations before he was sworn in as a minister in March 2020.
Last month, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli had claimed that Latiff had a wife named Zainab Salleh who was linked to two companies involved in the misappropriation of funds in the LCS project.
Latiff, who is with Bersatu, had dismissed the claim as an attempt to smear his reputation. He lodged a police report against Rafizi.
The two men have given statements to the police, who also seized Rafizi’s mobile phone for investigations.
The RM9 billion LCS project, to build six frigates for the navy, has come under scrutiny over its costs and delays in delivery. None of the ships have been completed nor delivered despite the expenditure of RM6.08 billion so far. - FMT
