Pakatan Harapan has lodged a police report over HarakahDaily’s Sept 1 article with the headline claiming “Harapan is surrounded by bribe givers”.
DAP central executive committee member Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said the report was lodged at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur at 11am today.
“The article accuses Harapan of being surrounded by bribe givers throughout its rule.
“This statement is a malicious slander by someone who claims to be a religious scholar,” he said.
Also present at the police headquarters this morning were Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh.
In his statement, Sheik Umar also criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang who claimed the majority of the corrupt are non-Muslims and non-Bumiputra.
The article, published in PAS mouthpiece Harakahdaily, was penned by PAS working committee member Mohd Zuhdi Marsuki who sought to explain and defend Hadi’s assertion.
The police questioned Hadi on Aug 29 to facilitate an investigation after 28 police reports were lodged against him.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 505(C) of the Penal Code on statements conducive to public mischief and incitement, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 2008 for abuse of network services. - Mkini
