Umno leader Mohd Puad Zarkashi has sarcastically heaped praise on PKR over a recent campaign song that saw it being sung by the party’s top brass at mega rallies.
The Umno supreme council member described it as a “fitting song” where, he claimed, PKR admits that they are thieves as even party leader Anwar Ibrahim (above) was seen singing it.
“Earlier, I heard the new PKR song ‘Akulah Penyamun’ (I Am The Thief). I shuddered as I watched (PKR leaders) Anwar (Ibrahim) and Rafizi (Ramli) sing it together.
“It’s a fitting song. PKR admitting that they are thieves. Anwar even stood up and sang it,” said Puad in a statement today.
Further, he suggested adding more lines to the song: “Akulah penipu, pemfitnah, perogol, dan peliwat.” (I am the liar, the defamer, the rapist, and someone who engages in anal sex)
“Then it will truly be complete,” added the Umno man, suggesting that the party should compose a different song entitled “Aku PM Tepi”.
Puad’s statement on Facebook actually refers to the PKR campaign song “Aduh Malaysia” composed by Malaysian rapper Altimet - who joined arms with PKR earlier this year.
Taking heavy reference from a song used in the 1961 P Ramlee film Ali Baba Bujang Lapok in its lyrics, the song takes aim at corruption in the country.
Anwar was most recently seen singing the campaign song at the party’s Piknik Rakyat event in Port Dickson on Sept 17.
The PKR leader sang: “Hoi hoi ya hoi / Siapa sokong penyamun / Bangun yang lama mengelamun / Duit kau aku semua dia sapu” (Hoi hoi ya hoi / Who supports thieves / Wake up those who have long been sleeping / He takes both your money and mine). - Mkini
