Actor, producer, and entrepreneur Rosyam Nor admits that he may have behaved a little rudely at times but insists it was done with good intentions.
In fact, he said, the move is designed to open the minds of concerned parties to think positively and not be too comfortable with existing situations.
“When I say ‘beat your head’, I don’t really mean to hit you. In terms of psychology, I want to open people’s minds.
“The word ‘brainwashing’ that I mentioned is actually intended to ‘wash’ the brain. I’m a bit rough but not rude. So, there is no issue of me degrading the dignity of women,” Rosyam (above) told Malaysiakini today.
The star, whose full name is Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, at the same time suggested that his critics first watch the controversial entrepreneurial video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
The actor even added that the “brainwashing” method had been used by him before to instil a love of entrepreneurship.

“The programme I run gives encouragement and awareness to women from the B40 group or those who are new to small and medium to succeed in business.
“Unexpectedly, due to the storm caused by the video, 1,500 new entrepreneurs showed up for the programme compared to the initial target of 1,000 people. We even had to open another hall to house them,” he said.
Rosyam, 55, said this when asked to comment on a viral video uploaded on the TikTok page of Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Mohd Harun.
The video allegedly aims to promote the Rise of Women Entrepreneurship Programme @ KPWKM organised by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.
The programme took place at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) yesterday.
No interest in politics
In the recording, Rosyam delivered his speech in a thug-like manner, believed to be imitating the character Tailong from the movie ‘KL Gangster 2’.
The actor asked women not to be late and get up early from sleep, besides using the word to “beat” their heads at the ceremony.
Internet users blasted Rosyam as chauvinist, sexist, and toxic.
The video also caught the attention of Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh. The former deputy minister of women, family, and community development criticised the video, saying it was cheap publicity and a disgrace to the minister.
However, Rosyam asked the public not to politicise his statements.
The actor also vehemently insisted that what he did had nothing to do with any interest in entering politics.
“There is no need to politicise my statement with Rina. I must emphasise, it is not my interest to join politics.
“Because I prefer entrepreneurship. I myself am from the B40 group. I’m thankful the video went viral because my focus on waking people up from their slumber came true.
“After Covid-19 hit, many people had to give up their jobs and many lost their businesses. I want the community to rise up and achieve success in the field of entrepreneurship,” he said.
He added that the dialogue he used was not a script written by the ministry.
“I want the Malaysian community to always be open-minded, look at things from a positive angle, and not be too negative,” he said. - Mkini
