IPOH: Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman says he has 100% local-level support to defend his Pasir Salak parliamentary seat.
The Pasir Salak MP said division and branch members still want him to lead.
"So people need to accept the fact that my leadership as division chairman is solid.
"There are no camps, we are united and people still want me to lead," he told a press conference here today.
Tajuddin has been Pasir Salak MP for three terms.
In July, he was dropped as Malaysia's named ambassador to Indonesia and prior to that, he was removed from Umno's supreme council in June.
Tajuddin said his track record of being in Umno for 50 years speaks for itself.
"People who know me, know my political career journey will have a different perception of me than what is portrayed," he added.
He also said that for two state seats, there was strong support for incumbent Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin to defend Kampung Gajah and for Khairul Azwan Harun to contest in Sungai Manik.
Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin won the Sungai Manik seat during GE14 under a Barisan Nasional ticket but later joined Bersatu. - Star
