Umno man: Rafizi a 'coward', attacking us as people reject Harapan

Umno supreme council member Mohd Razlan Rafii called Rafizi Ramli a coward for saying the Malay-based party will meet its demise in five to seven years.

Razlan (above, right)said the PKR deputy president attacked Umno-BN because he understood that the people have rejected Pakatan Harapan.

“He threw in the towel even before entering the ring, that is Rafizi’s message,” he said, responding to Rafizi’s (above, left) speech at PKR’s “Rapat Mega Keadilan” ceramah at Taman Melawati, Gombak last night.

“He understands that the people have rejected Harapan due to the coalition’s lies and false promises during the last general election. This is followed by the inability of the Harapan leadership to govern the country.

“There were plenty of issues not well-liked by the people, that’s the reason why BN won in the by-elections and state elections,” he told Malaysiakini when contacted.

Yesterday, Rafizi said the country’s Malay-based parties including Umno, PAS, Bersatu, and BN by extension, will meet their end in five to seven years.

The former Pandan MP said Harapan’s principal opponents are so “damaged” that they wouldn’t be able to rebuild and face the challenges of today.

“It is impossible for a party that is so damaged to be able to rebuild its strength, from the bottom up, to face the challenges of today. I’m not worried at all!” said Rafizi, adding that they are unlikely to achieve victory in the coming 15th general election, as well as other future elections.

“They will be weakened. Our problem would be taking over the government when we win because the problems we inherited would be too big,” he said.

‘Look in the mirror’

Razlan, however, said Umno and BN were not surprised by Rafizi’s remark.

The Umno man said they have learned from their past defeats and also that the people now know the true colour of Harapan.

“BN has learned from its defeat and the people now know who Harapan is.

“PKR so far has not even decided whether to adopt its own logo or a Harapan logo (in GE15). I think there are plenty of trust issues surrounding them. That’s why they keep attacking BN,” he said.

Meanwhile, Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar told Rafizi not to occupy himself with the business of another party.

Rafizi should instead look at his own party PKR as it was almost buried in three state elections, Noh was reported as saying by Sinar Harian.

“Just tell Rafizi, they (PKR) were decimated in Johor, Malacca, and Sarawak. Look at PKR’s own grave first,” he was quoted as saying in Putrajaya today.
