PETALING JAYA: Former Petronas CEO Hassan Marican has been appointed to lead a body to advise Anwar Ibrahim in his capacity as finance minister.
In a statement, Anwar said the four others are FVSB executive chairman Ahmad Fuad Ali, Sarawak Energy Bhd chairman Abdul Hamed Sapawi and economists Yeah Kim Leng and Rajah Rasiah.
None of those appointed to the board will receive any pay.
Apart from the five, Anwar, in his capacity as the prime minister, had on Jan 3 appointed his daughter, Nurul Izzah, as his senior adviser on economics and finance.
Nurul’s appointment drew flak, with detractors accusing Anwar of nepotism. He has since dismissed the claim and said she was qualified for the role.
Like the five, Nurul Izzah will not be paid for her services. - FMT
