PARLIAMENT | Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said his party wanted to be a part of the government’s secretariat to discuss important issues, not to pursue positions.
The Muar MP said the party’s priority is the help address pressing current issues and told critics not to be narrow-minded.
“Muda’s priority isn’t positions, but pressing current and political issues.
“Don’t look at politics from a narrow perspective,” Syed Saddiq (above) told reporters at the Parliament’s lobby today.
Among the matters the party wants to raise in secretariat meetings are youth issues and the plight of the B40 income group, he said.
However, the Muar MP said that he would continue to support the government for the sake of the country’s political stability and people.
“If there is any misunderstanding, we will discuss it internally,” he added.
On Feb 8, Muda secretary-general Amir Hariri Abd Hadi raised dissatisfaction after the party was kept in the dark about the government’s first secretariat meeting held at Umno’s headquarters the day prior.
In response, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the meeting was only meant for parties that founded the unity government.
Anwar also announced that all parties in the government gave their commitment to work together in the upcoming elections for six states.
Apart from Muda, also excluded from the meeting were Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) and Sabah-based Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM).
This led PBM president Larry Sng to moot for smaller parties and supporters of the unity government to work together as a bloc. - Mkini
