Annuar likens Zahid to 'intoxicated' driver at the wheel

 

Annuar Musa has lashed out at Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, likening him to someone who is intoxicated at the wheel.

Comparing political parties to vehicles, the former Umno stalwart who is now with PAS, said the Islamist party has consistently travelled along a straight route.

“Umno initially travelled along a straight route, but is now not reaching its destination due to a driver who is 'high on ketum'," he told a ceramah in Kelantan last night.

Therefore, the former Ketereh MP said he has no regrets about being sacked from Umno.

"You can fire me, no problem. To me, political affiliation is like a motor vehicle, every vehicle has its own driver.

"To us Muslims, what matters is the station (destination of the vehicle), and not the driver," he added.

Annuar also spoke about the reasons that led to the break-up between Umno and PAS, when the two parties collaborated under the Muafakat Nasional banner.

According to him, PAS was not the reason for the divorce.

"PAS leaders are easy to work with. Whatever Umno asked, they (PAS) were agreeable to it.

"Prior to forming the government (the previous administration), (PAS president) Hadi (Abdul Awang) clearly said he did not want any cabinet position," he added.

In addition to this, Annuar said PAS was also accommodating when it came to seat negotiations for elections.

"PAS did not ask for 50 or 60 seats. They just said they will contest in seats they have previously won, and other parties will do the same.

"Negotiations will only be held for seats either party did not hold," he said, alleging that Umno later reneged on this promise and accused PAS of being a "traitor." - Mkini
