The MACC probe into the corruption case related to the recruitment of foreigners that involved senior officers of the Human Resources Ministry is still ongoing but details cannot be revealed at this time.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Azalina Othman Said revealed this in a written parliamentary reply to a question posed by MCA’s Ayer Hitam MP Wee Ka Siong.
“This morning, I received the written reply to the question I asked on June 8, 2023, that the minister did not manage to answer in Dewan Rakyat.
“I also asked about the implications of this issue over the commitment of the government in eradicating corruption,” he wrote.
The latter part of his question was not addressed in Azalina’s (above) response.
Last month, Malaysiakini reported that the five officers had their services terminated with immediate effect while another was transferred to the Public Services Department.
All six were appointed by Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar.
At the time, government sources said some of their contracts were terminated because of the MACC probe while others were due to poor performance.
Sivakumar confirmed their terminations and said it was done to ensure the ministry could continue to function well. - Mkini
