District police chief held for allegedly receiving RM1mil bribe

The 53-year-old senior officer is the police chief of a district in Pahang.

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested the police chief of a district in Pahang for allegedly receiving bribes to “protect” unlicensed entertainment outlets and massage parlours in the district.

An MACC source said the 53-year-old senior cop was arrested this evening on suspicion of receiving more than RM1 million in bribes from 2017 to 2022.

“It is suspected that the bribes are to ensure these unlicensed entertainment outlets and massage parlours do not face any action from enforcement officers,” the source said.
