Kelantan will dissolve its state legislative assembly on June 22, Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob announced today.
He said the date of dissolution has received royal assent from Kelantan’s Sultan Muhammad V.
Ahmad made the announcement at a press conference after a state executive council meeting in Kota Bharu today.
He said the state government will also be sending a notice of dissolution to the Election Commission for further action.
Six states – Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan – did not dissolve their state assemblies last year when the 15th general election was being held.
Penang will be dissolving its legislature on June 28, and the other four states are expected to announce dissolution dates soon. - Mkini
