KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today announced the posthumous promotion of the two police commandos killed in a gun battle yesterday with armed intruders claiming to be members of the royal army of the Sultanate of Sulu.
He said Insp Zulkifli Mamat, 29, was promoted to ASP and Cpl Sabarudin Daud, 46, to sergeant.
“I had discussed with (Deputy Inspector-General of Police) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on the promotion of our two national heroes,” he told reporters after paying his last respects to the slain commandos at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Subang near here.
Najib said the government and the police would look into other aid and that their families would be informed of the matter after the burial.
“We will not forget the services and sacrifices of our two national heroes,” he said. – Bernama
