A former Umno assistant registrar has been implicated in a non-consensual voter registration exercise that DAP claims could have involved many voters over the years.
Klang MP Charles Santiago today claimed that he and his team have traced back the non-consensual registration of S Dinesh, a 32-year-old Malaysian who currently resides in United Kingdom, to a man who used to serve as assistant registrar for Umno, endorsed by the Election Commission (EC).
The man allegedly registered Dinesh in March 2012, even though the latter’s father, S Sivakumar, claimed his son had never registered as a voter before as he is now based in the UK.
Charles said that checks with the Selangor EC had showed that the it was indeed the man who had registered Dinesh's name in the electoral roll.
His role as registrar has since been terminated, allegedly for fraudulent voter registration, further claims Charles.
