Gobind: What's your take on Zahid, Mr PM?

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi continued to draw brickbats, this time from Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo.

Roping in the prime minister into the imbroglio, the DAP leader demanded that Najib Abdul Razak state his stand on the matter.

"The prime minister must act. He should tell us if he condones the conduct of his home minister. 

"If he does not, he should say so and act against Zahid immediately," said Gobind in a statement.
                
Describing Zahid as an "utter disgrace", Gobind took the home minister to task for his open support of a group, which is on the authorities’ list of outlawed criminal gangs.

The MP noted that Zahid had described members of the Tiga Line gang as "friends", and called on them to continue with "what they need to do."

"He has further openly put racism into his alleged fight against crime and he has threatened and abused reporters, even to the extent of physical contact with one of them.

"His behavior is seriously unbecoming of a member of Parliament and a minister. His thugish explosions are a matter of grave concern and extremely embarrassing to say the least.

"Zahid must stop this nonsense. Action should be taken against him," he said.

On Friday, Malaysiakini journalist Lawrence Yong came under fire from Zahid when he quizzed the minister on the missing police firearms as mentioned in the Auditor-General’s Report.
